The course is designed to teach students the basic knowledge and skills needed to safely scuba dive in open water environments.
The course typically includes three main phases:
- Knowledge Development: This phase includes classroom instruction, independent study, and quizzes and exams to ensure that students understand the basic principles of scuba diving, including dive planning, dive physiology, dive equipment, and dive environment.
- Confined Water Dives: This phase includes pool training sessions where students will practice basic scuba skills such as clearing water from the mask, regulator recovery, and emergency procedures.
- Open Water Dives: This phase includes four open water dives where students will apply the skills learned in the confined water dives and become comfortable with diving in the open water environment.
Upon completion of the course, students will be certified to dive to depths of up to 60 feet/18 meters with a diving buddy.The Open Water Diver certifications are recognized worldwide, and it is valid for life.
- Prerequisites : Able to swim; medically fit for diving
- Total time commitment : 3-4 days

If you indicate “YES” to any of the 1O questions on the medical questionnaire you may need a doctor’s clearance before participating especially Individuals with a chronic conditions, on certain medications, or who have recently undergone surgery.

Where is Mataharidivers dive center and how to get there
Our dive center is located on Perhentian Kecil in the East Coast of Peninsular Malaysia, in the state of Terengganu. It is part of the Perhentian Islands. The best way to get to Perhentian Kecil is by taking a flight to Kuala Lumpur (KUL) and then connecting to Kota Bharu (KBR) airport. From Kota Bharu, you can take a bus or taxi to the town of Kuala Besut, where you can catch a boat to the island. The boat ride takes about 45 minutes to 1 hour. Another way of getting there is by taking a bus from Kuala Lumpur or other major cities in Peninsular Malaysia to Kuala Besut.
Is the island marine park conservation fee included in the package price?
No.The Marine Park conservation fee should be paid at the park's designated payment counter or office. It is usually located near the jetty or at the park's entrance.
Does the Scuba Diving activity price / package include equipment rental?
